01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Marked by banners along the street in Asakusa, Courage draws attention with its signature Asakusa Anpan. The squarish bun is branded with the kanji for Asakusa on top, opening up to reveal a generous filling of whipped cream and red bean paste. The light, airy texture of the fresh cream complements the paste, which customers can choose as either textured tsubuan (chunky red bean paste) or smooth koshian.

Savory options are also well represented for a quick meal. A fragrant, spiced curry bread shares the counter with hearty egg salad and pork cutlet sandwiches, ideal for a bite on the go. Melonpan, croissants, and various rusks add further sweet snacking variety, adapting easily to different times of day.

The compact shop accommodates just a few customers at a time and operates mainly for takeout. A bench sits outside the storefront, offering a convenient spot to pause during a stroll and enjoy the fresh-baked goods on the spot.
